Annual Season Overview

2017 Season

During 2017 Dexter has been racing in the OKJ class. In addition to the World Championships, Dexter competed in the WSK Super Masters Series and the CIK-FIA European Championship.

Dexter began the year as a Birel ART Factory driver and moved to his current team, Forza Racing, prior to the 2nd round of the European Championships.

Following the end of the European Championships, Dexter was back in the UK competing and winning at both the Trent Valley Kart Club Championship at PF International and the final round of the Super One Series.

These races provided the perfect preparation to win the World Championship Title.

Continuing on from the success of the World Championship, Dexter’s final races of the year have been in Italy where he successfully won the Trofeo Delle Industrie Cup at South Garda as well as Driver of the Day for maximum points across all the races.  Dexter also secured a number of race wins at both rounds of the Adria Final Cup.

2015/2016 Season

At the end 2015 Dexter moved up from the Cadet Class to compete in Mini Max. Early success in the Super One Championship, including a 2nd place finish at Round 2, placed Dexter 3rd in the Championship. However, injury one week prior to Round 3 meant that he was unable to take part and consequentially lost the opportunity to earn vital championship points. Despite this set back Dexter won the Kartmasters Grand Prix Title and went on to win the Super One Final at West of Scotland Kart Club. He finished the Super One Championship in 5th position overall.

Dexter’s success in Mini Max continued, winning the Continental Cup at PF International, 12 seconds ahead of the closest driver. Later that year he took a 4th place finish in his first ever OKJ race at Shennington Kart Racing Club and completed the year at the first round of the TVKC Winter series with a win in Mini Max and 3rd in OKJ.

2015 Season

The highlight of 2015 was of course Dexter becoming the Super One IAME Cadet British Champion, aswell as the Formula Kart Stars Super Cadet Championship.

These achievements followed a successful 2014/2015 winter season where Dexter won the Trent Valley Kart Club Winter Series, a championship entered by most of the highest ranking Cadet drivers in the UK.

Dexter’s achievements in 2015 were recognized by Downforce Radio when they awarded him the Kier Millar Under 13 Racer of the Year Award. In addition, Karting Magazine named Dexter as one of their 3 Highly Commended Drivers.

2014 Season

In 2014 Dexter raced in the Super One British Championship and the IAME Cadet Little Green Man Championship. Dexter achieved 7th position overall in the Super One British Championship. He finished 5th in the final at the 1st round at Shennington Kart Racing Club and 5th again in the 3rd round at Cumbria Kart Racing Club.

In the Little Green Man Championship, which saw an average entry list of around 60-70 drivers, Dexter finished the championship in 5th position. He achieved pole position for the final in the first round at PFI and then went on to finish in 3rd place. In the second round at West of Scotland Kart Club Dexter finished on the podium in 2nd place and in the 4th round at Cumbria Kart Racing Club he started the final in pole position and went on to win the race. In this year Dexter also achieved 5th place in the O Plate at West of Scotland Kart Club and 5th place at the Kartmasters Grand Prix at PF International.

Early Karting Career

Dexter started karting at the age of 6 ½ years. He joined West of Scotland Kart Club and regularly practiced in his bambino kart. Quite quickly Dexter also started visiting tracks in England to compete in time trial “competitions” with other bambino drivers. Dexter won a number of 1st place trophies at these meetings as well as achieving 2nd and 3rd place on the other occasions.

Dexter progressed to a Comer Cadet kart a few months after he turned 7 years old. He continued to practice regularly at West of Scotland Kart Club and also visited a number of tracks in England to gain experience and prepare for racing. 3 days after Dexter turned 8 years old he raced in his first ever MSA Cadet Race at West of Scotland Kart Club. He managed to win 2 out of the 3 heats and went on to comfortably win the final. Dexter came away that day with a 1st place trophy and a 1st Novice trophy. Dexter also went on to win 1st place novice trophies at Cumbria Kart Racing Club, Three Sisters Race Circuit and PF International.

In 2012, at the age of 8 ½ years, Dexter entered the MSA Comer Cadet Super One Championship and finished 29th overall. He continued to race throughout the UK at Club level in that year and became the 2012 West of Scotland Kart Club Comer Cadet Champion. In this year he also won the West of Scotland Kart Club Scottish Open.

In 2013 Dexter moved to the new IAME Cadet engine. He once again entered the Super One Championship for this class, which was now the official British Championship. He also entered the new IAME Cadet Little Green Man Championship and continued to race at club level as much as possible. Dexter finished 15th in the British Championship and 7th in Little Green Man. He also won the Davidson Busway IAME Trophy at West of Scotland Kart Club.
