Dexter 4th at 2018 CIK-FIA OK World Championships!!!
Dexter returns home from the World Championships in Sweden with a respectable 4th place finish in only his first year of Senior racing. This is quite an achievement for Dexter, just weeks after his 15th birthday.
102 drivers, from countries worldwide, contested the2018 CIK-FIA World Championship at Kristianstad, Sweden in September. Dexter started the weekend incredibly well, qualifying 2nd overall. The mixed weather conditions provided some unpredictable racing during the heats, including Dexter’s first ever experience on his Kart Republic chassis in the wet, and also a heat on slicks in the rain. A heat win and a second, plus a mixture of other respectable results, placed Dexter 8th on the Grid for the Final.
Dexter achieved a solid start to the 25 lap race, quickly gaining a couple of positions. However, the front 3 drivers made an early get-away to establish a comfortable lead over the rest of the pack. The first half of the race was intense and an exciting battle unfolded amongst the next group of drivers. Confident driving from Dexter allowed him to break away and pull clear of those behind him. However, the 4 second gap to the driver in front was too large for Dexter to overcome and he crossed the line unchallenged in 4th position.
